Responsive Classroom
Each month, we will be sharing information with you about the Responsive Classroom Approach:
What social skills do teachers focus on?
Students learn academics most easily when they have strong social skills that let them take
a positive role in classroom life. For example, the social skill of listening respectfully helps
students learn from classmates’ oral reports, get information from their teacher about how
to solve a math problem, and enjoy a book the teacher reads aloud to the class.
Here are some of the specific social skills that teachers focus on throughout the year, with
special emphasis during the early weeks of school:
PTO Meeting - Wednesday, March 13th:
Please join us for our PTO meeting on Wednesday, March 13th at 4:30. We will be able to meet in the cafeteria - using social distancing and wearing masks. We will also have a virtual option using this link: link PTO will be sponsoring the upcoming Read-a-Thon. Please see additional information in today’s Tuesday folder.
Student Council Penny Wars
TMT Student Council Penny War was a great success! They raised over $2500.00 to help “power up our playground.” They are taking
some initial steps to order materials, but we are looking for community partners to help us in this BIG undertaking. Some areas of opportunity for partnerships may be: Paint donation (supplies and artistic abilities), lumber or material donation, resurfacing materials and labor. Thank you, Thunder Mountain families and community members, for your support in this wonderful cause that greatly benefits our students!
Reminders:
Masks
Please send your child to school with a mask each and every day. We have extra masks on hand, however; we ask everyone to do their part so we don’t run out. Those extra masks are for when students accidentally forget theirs for that day.
When Checking Students Out Early
For your child’s safety, we ask that every adult who is authorized to pick up a student show their ID at the office. Please be prepared to show your identification each time you check out your student.

Family Panorama Survey
This December, all Thunder Mountain families received an email from Panorama and were invited to take a perception survey. This was a survey that all schools in the district made available to their families.
The survey was called, Family Back-to-School + Family-School Relationships. (Continued on back…)
Thirty-nine of our families took the survey, and provided feedback for our school.
The School Advisory Committee (SAC) met last month to review the survey and discuss any possible actions to take based on the survey results. This was the first time that families have been invited to take this survey, authored by Panorama. The SAC would like to put together a school generated survey this spring and invite all families to participate.
The group thought having our own school level survey might generate more responses and could ask questions that would be specifically related to our school. Please look for our Thunder Mountain Family Survey, provided by our staff and School Advisory Committee, coming this spring!
Below is a summary of the survey feedback collected through the Panorama Survey in December:
